Catamarans
are blessed with extraordinary roll resistance. The
athwartships motion is essentially a direct and unexaggerated
response to wave action, imparting a sensation of
stability in all conditions.
Due to a small and elongated waterplane, caribbeancatamarans
tend to have a fore-and-aft
motion tempered by the ability to cut through waves
rather than bounce over them. This action is a complicated
one and is influenced by the longitudinal distribution
of weights in the vessel as well as hull shape. A
balance between ride and "wetness" is the
target. In moderate sea conditions, you can expect
to maintain comfort at speeds that have compelled
other vessels to drop back and wallow.
